ALAN KINSELLA - DIRECTOR

Alan started as an actor training at Bull Alley Theatre Training Company for three years, where he now teaches. His professional debut was at the Abbey Theatre. Directorial credits are as diverse as Shakespeare's Henry iv Part One to Crazy For You and include the world premiere of the new musical Creatures at Andrew's Lane Theatre where he directed Closer, The Balcony, Onkle, Onkle and The Lords of Love. He directed Streetcar Named Desire at Samuel Beckett Centre, Tramps and Vamps, Lunch, Beaux Stratagem, (Focus Theatre) Blood Wedding (Project Arts Centre) Little Shop of Horrors, Kahoogaphone (National Tour), The European premier of Victor/Victoria. Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at The Helix. For Bull Alley, Saint Joan of the Stockyards, Dido Queen of Carthage, Edward ii, Marty, Player Queen, Major Barbara and the epic Angels In America. Other theatre includes Water Drops on Burning Rocks, The Year of the Hiker, Sweet Charity and the award winning Jekyll and Hyde. Also Copacabana at The Civic, Toy Boys at the Driocht, Simply Sondhiem at Liberty hall, The National tour of The New York Song Book. He directed and co-wrote Come up and see me ...a peek at Mae West for the 2007 Dublin Fringe Festival, nominated for best production. His award winning production of Decadence has been produced four times including a production for the Gay Theatre festival. He directed the world premier of Gary Duggan's Dedalus Lounge, and Duggan's latest play Trans-Euro Express. Alan made his off-Broadway debut in 2010, directing Stephen Berkoff's Lunch. He recently directed Reality Shows at the project Arts Centre which will be touring to the Galway Theatre Festival. He will next be directing at L.O.T. in Toronto in October. This is Alan’s 5th production for the Gay Theatre Festival and is delighted to be part of the 10th anniversary.
